Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your folders, prompts and chat organization are stored in your browser, not on our servers.
- KeepChat never reads, stores or sends the content of your ChatGPT conversations.
- The extension has no analytics, tracking or ads. Our website and purchase pages use Google Analytics to count visits and purchases, with cookies only if you accept them, and never with your license key. We don’t sell your data.
- Until you click Upgrade to Pro or enter a license key, KeepChat sends nothing to us. After that, the extension sends us only your license key, to check that it’s valid.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. Your license key is emailed through Resend. Our server uses your IP address only to limit abuse, in memory, and never logs or saves it.
1. Who we are
KeepChat is a Chrome extension that adds folders, a prompt library and search to ChatGPT, plus this website (keepchat.app.br). Both are published by Clebert Labs (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data KeepChat handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
2. Data stored in your browser
KeepChat stores its data with Chrome’s extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your computer. This data is never uploaded to us:
- Folders: folder names, how they’re nested and ordered, and when they were created or changed.
- Filed chats: for each chat you add to a folder, its ChatGPT chat ID and title, which folder it’s in, and when you filed it.
- Saved prompts: the title and text of each prompt, and when it was created, edited or last used.
- Interface preferences: which sections and folders are collapsed or expanded, and where you placed the floating button.
- License (Pro only): your license key, plan, status, renewal or expiry date, and when it was last checked.
Data stays in the Chrome profile where you created it. KeepChat doesn’t sync it between computers.
3. What KeepChat reads on chatgpt.com
KeepChat runs only on https://chatgpt.com. To show your chats inside folders, it reads the chat links and titles already listed in the ChatGPT sidebar. It doesn’t read, store or send your messages, ChatGPT’s answers, or any other conversation content, and it never sends anything to ChatGPT or OpenAI on your behalf.
When you click Insert on a saved prompt, KeepChat puts its text into the ChatGPT message box. Nothing is sent until you send it yourself. When you choose Copy text, or if Insert can’t find the message box, the prompt text is written to your clipboard. KeepChat doesn’t read your clipboard.
4. License validation
If you use KeepChat Pro, the extension checks your license with our license server when you activate it and about once a day after that. Each check sends only your license key. The extension doesn’t send cookies, and the browser identifies the request as coming from the KeepChat extension (its extension origin). Our server replies with your plan, its status and its renewal or expiry date.
Like any web request, the check also carries technical details your browser adds, such as your IP address. Our server uses the IP address only in memory to limit abusive traffic. It doesn’t store or log it. Our server logs record that a check happened, with your license key masked to its last four characters, and never your email address or IP address.
License checks are the only requests the extension itself makes to us. They happen when you activate a key, when you click Check again, and about once a day while a license key is saved in KeepChat and you have ChatGPT open. If you’ve never entered a license key, or after you remove it, the extension sends nothing to us. Clicking Upgrade to Pro, Manage subscription or View receipt opens one of our pages in a new browser tab, as described in section 5.
5. Purchases and license emails
When you click Upgrade to Pro in KeepChat, a new tab opens a short confirmation page on our own license server that shows the plan you picked. Nothing is charged and nothing is sent to Stripe until you click Continue to checkout. Our server then creates a checkout session and sends you to Stripe’s secure checkout page. Stripe collects your email address and payment details and processes the payment. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe keeps a record of your purchase, and we store your license key and plan with that record in Stripe. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
After you pay, Stripe sends you back to a thank-you page on our license server that shows your license key and how to activate it. If you leave checkout without paying, you land on our “Checkout canceled” page instead. These pages and the confirmation page before checkout use Google Analytics (see section 6). To link a purchase to the visit it came from, the confirmation page sends Google Analytics’ random visitor and session IDs with your click only if you accepted analytics cookies (Accept in the cookie banner), and we store them with the checkout session in Stripe; otherwise no Google Analytics IDs are sent, and the purchase is counted under a random ID that isn’t linked to your visit. When a payment completes, or is refunded in full, our server reports it to Google Analytics with the plan, the amount, the currency and Stripe’s checkout session ID. It never sends your license key, email address or name.
Manage subscription (or View receipt for a lifetime license), in KeepChat or in your license email, opens a confirmation page on our license server with your license key in the part of the link after #, which browsers don’t send to servers. A small script on that page moves the key into a form and removes it from the address bar. When you click Continue to Stripe, the form sends the key to our server, which looks up your purchase in Stripe and sends you to Stripe’s customer portal (or your Stripe receipt). Stripe shows you your own billing details there; our server doesn’t receive them. This page doesn’t use Google Analytics.
In this flow our server receives the plan you picked, Stripe’s checkout session ID, Google Analytics’ visitor and session IDs (only if you accepted analytics cookies) and the technical details your browser sends with any web request, such as your IP address. It uses your IP address only to limit abusive traffic: the address is kept only in the server’s memory, as a per-address request counter that resets every minute, and it’s never written to logs or saved to disk. Our server logs record that a checkout started or a license was issued, with the plan, Stripe’s reference IDs and your license key masked to its last four characters, and never your email address or IP address.
After payment, we email your license key to the address you gave at checkout, using Resend as our email delivery provider. Resend receives your email address and the content of that message. See Resend’s privacy policy. We only email you about your purchase, your license and support requests. No newsletters or marketing.
6. This website
keepchat.app.br and the purchase pages on our license server (api.keepchat.app.br) use Google Analytics, a service from Google, so we can see how many people visit, where they come from, which pages and buttons they use (for example an install button, a price or a support link) and how many purchases and refunds there are. The KeepChat extension itself doesn’t use Google Analytics.
With each page view or event, Google Analytics receives the page address (without query parameters other than campaign tags, and never the part after #), the page title, the referring site, your browser and device type, the event and its details (such as the plan), and your IP address, which Google uses to estimate your approximate location and says it doesn’t log or store. We turned off Google signals and ad personalization, we never send Google your name, email address or license key, and we only see aggregated reports. Google processes this data under its own terms; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can block Google Analytics with your browser’s settings or a content blocker, or with Google’s opt-out add-on. The website and checkout work the same without it.
Apart from Google Analytics, keepchat.app.br has no ads, tracking pixels or other third-party scripts, fonts or embeds. Every other file is served from our own server. Like any website, the hosting infrastructure processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect against attacks.
7. Extension permissions
storage- Saves your folders, filed chats, prompts, interface preferences and Pro license in your browser, as described in section 2.
- Access to
https://chatgpt.com/* - Lets KeepChat add its sections to the ChatGPT sidebar, read chat links and titles for your folders, and insert prompts into the message box, as described in section 3. KeepChat doesn’t run on any other website.
8. No tracking in the extension, no ads or data sales
The KeepChat extension has no analytics, telemetry, tracking or advertising: how you use it isn’t measured or sent anywhere. Google Analytics runs only on our website and purchase pages, as described in section 6. We don’t sell or rent your data, we share it only with the service providers named in this policy, and we don’t use it for anything unrelated to KeepChat’s single purpose: organizing ChatGPT chats and prompts. We don’t use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending. KeepChat’s use of data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
9. Retention and deletion
- In your browser: you can delete folders and prompts at any time from KeepChat. Uninstalling the extension removes all of its data from that Chrome profile. To remove only your license, open the KeepChat plan dialog and choose Remove license from this browser.
- Purchases: Stripe keeps payment records, including your email address and license, for as long as needed to provide Pro and to meet tax, accounting and legal requirements.
- Emails: Resend keeps delivery records for a limited time under its own policy. Support emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to help you and keep a record of your purchase.
- Google Analytics: event data linked to the cookie identifier is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically; aggregated reports don’t identify you. The
_gacookies expire after up to 2 years, unless you decline or delete them in your browser. - Server logs: kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting. They don’t contain your email address, IP address or full license key.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, Brazil under the LGPD, California under the CCPA, or the EU and UK under the GDPR), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We don’t sell or share personal information as those laws define it. To make a request, email support@keepchat.app.br from the address you used at checkout. We won’t treat you differently for exercising these rights.
11. Children
KeepChat isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has bought a license, contact us and we’ll delete the related information.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how KeepChat handles data, we’ll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. If the change is significant, we’ll also say so in the extension’s Chrome Web Store listing.
